Feds move to Ban Pythons & Boas

Once the importation and inter-state transport has been banned, there will be a rapid exodus of breeders of these species, and eventually they will disappear from the marketplace along with a significant number of businesses and jobs. Pet owners will feel the pinch as dry goods suppliers and caging manufacturers stop producing products for that segment of the hobby, and eventually it will be impossible to obtain a new pet boa or python.

Here's an already ongoing discussion of the ban on bp.net

Has anyone been able to get a hold of http://www.customwoodreptilecages.com/ at all recently? I've been trying to get in touch with them for a new Ma-tsu set up, but haven't heard back. I think this is the second or third time I've sent them an e-mail and I dunno if they're really swamped or if I should be worried or what?

They do the most gorgeous work, and I'm really hoping to get a double decker cage set from them. If anybody knows or hears anything please let me know?

I was just contacted by a lady in the south east (not sure exactly where, I'm waiting for more details) who's son went and got a VBB then dropped it off with her. She can't care for it, and wants to find it a good home ASAP. I assume pick-up only. Doesn't sound like the gender is known.

It's ~6' and hasn't been handled enough. Somewhat aggressive but was showing signs of simmering down.

Drop me a line at my gmail, blue.gorgon(at)gmail.com, if you're interested or know someone who is and I'll get you in touch with her. I'll add more information to as I get it such as location etc.

Neptune was HUNGRY right after he shed, so I tossed in his f/t rat and he decided to go all cirque de soleil on me! One minute he'd finally settled down under his hide, the next... sproing! He stayed in this position long enough for me to go and get my camera, lol. I got that piece of shed out while he settled in to digest, and also cleaned out his "litter box". Oy. Least he's consistant! Shed, giant poo in humid hide, feed!

Pics!Collapse )

Also, Blue Gorgon's art shop is now open for business! Medusa and Fantasy art abounds! And many more Medusa pieces underway using lots more snake species. Keep checking back to see if there's a Medusa of your favorite snake species yet!

You guys have met Neptune, so I thought I'd introduce my other herps and myself properly over here. :) Plus a few more pics of Neptune, as he just shed recently. ;)

I'm an aspiring VBB breeder, Medusa/Myth obsessed artist (the icon is from an art piece of mine), and snake fancier in general. I'm determined to specialize in and learn everything there is to know about Blue Beauties. I also hope to be at least nearly as snake savvy as my herp vet one day. Dial-up users beware, here are my scale kids!

Falkor the Miami Corn snakeCollapse )

Gomez the Normal Ball PythonCollapse )

Ma-tsu the Vietnamese Blue BeautyCollapse )

Neptune the Vietnamese Blue BeautyCollapse )

Also have plans for oodles more VBBs, at *least* one more Ball Python, a black and white striped Cali King, and a dwarf boa or two like a Caulker Cay or Bluefield as well as a nice big snake room. Anything else will probably be something simply fallen in love with at an expo or something. Probably colubrids or Bps. Anywho... that's us! And thanks for looking. :)

Mwahaha, first post... :) I love this cage, and SO plan to get more soon as I have the room. We've had it since April and not only does it look nice, it's inescapable (trust me, Neptune has *tested* it as he does all enclosures! And that's 3 pounds of snake, there!), and I can get any size or stain I need. /(^v^)\ Just lovely! Especially for a great display snake like a Blue Beauty. He really stands out in there! He's got a smaller hide now, but he likes it so much I haven't had much opportunity to get many newer pics. :P I wish I had a better camera too, nothing seems to do them justice!

Oodles of PicsCollapse )

I want to thank you for joining this community. It's still very much in it's infancy so please bare with me. While corresponding with folks who have purchased my cages, it's not uncommon to be asked if I know of a site, well...like this one! So many of you have been kind enough to send me pics of your cages once they have been set-up and your reptile has moved in. I thought it only fitting that you should all be able to have a friendly place to talk about your much loved reptiles, habitat set-ups, share photos, give and receive information, and most of all.... interact with others that share your interests.

This is not the first community dedicated to reptilian care givers and those they care for, but I do hope to make this a friendly and unique one.

So dont be shy, please introduce yourselves. Also, photos are much loved around here.
